Automotive Collision Repair & Refinishing

Program Description

This Tech Prep program meets automotive industry standards and has earned the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification. Students learn the technology of repairing and painting damaged parts and bodies of today's high-tech vehicles and practice these skills in an up-to-date lab as well as in local auto dealerships and repair facilities.

Program Requirements

Today's technology requires strong reading and math skills for success in the automotive field.
  • Text reading level: 9th grade
  • Ability to read, understand and apply technical information
  • Mathematics: measurements, fractions, precentages, and cost-time estimates
Safety Requirements:
  • Safety shoes
  • Proper work clothes
  • Students must complete safety competencies before they are allowed to work in the lab
  • Must adhere to all MIOSHA, OSHA, and state and federal rules and regulations
Other:
  • Student must be free of allergies from dust, paint, and fumes
  • Good muscular and eye-hand coordination, physical stamina and strength
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy
